I love how soft is the fabric. It looks cute on my pregnant body. I haven’t tested it with breastfeeding yet.

The Luna Layer

Phenomenal quality merino wool. I own merino apparel from several brands and this is the softest and feels most luxurious. Love the floral band that lines the nursing opening. I have one in each color and pretty much live in it autumn to spring.

The Luna Layer

I've been looking for breastfeeding merino wool baselayer for years! So excited to finally have one and be supporting a Canadian woman and her small business in the process!

The Luna Layer

I’ve tried other brands wool nursing tops and this one takes the cake! It’s thicker, softer and prettier than others. I find wool to be very itchy at times and this is my only wool top, nursing and non nursing, that I don’t feel itchy wearing. I love how soft it is and the thickness of the material keeps me plenty warm. It is so well made and beautiful designed.

The Luna Layer

So soft and comfortable. Really great for nursing. Many people don't even realize it's a nursing shirt until I go to feed my baby. Absolutely love it.

The Luna Layer

Lovely stretchy merino wool! Love that I found a breast feeding friendly merino layer!

The Luna Layer

The perfect base layer for the breastfeeding outdoorsy mom.

The Luna Layer

Love the Luna layer for breastfeeding on the go!

The Luna Layer

Love the Luna layer! I debated purchasing one for a while because they are quite pricey, but they are well worth it. This is the second one I have purchased and I wear them almost everyday. They have held up well after many washes. The access works great for breastfeeding discreetly while out.

The Luna Layer

Stretchy, soft and warm! This is the perfect layer for on the go and everyday. I got the M and I'm 5'4" and 150lbs, fits perfectly.

Such a fantastic layer! I use it for both during the day when I'm out at the farm and want a warm layer with breastfeeding access, and also for co-sleeping at night so my top half stays nice and warm. I've purchased 3 luna layers now, highly recommend them!

A review for tall ladies! I'm 5'11" with a lot of height in the torso. My measurements at 22 weeks pregnant are bust 35" belly 32" and weight 155lbs (pre pregnancy bust 34" waist 28" and weight 145lbs). The All Phases Fleece is super tall friendly so I took a gamble on this one and ordered a M. Ultimately wish I'd ordered a couple more sizes up as the armhole / sleeve area isn't a good fit. The pulling is uncomfortable and the sleeves ride up a lot when moving around. Need at least 3-4" more in the sleeves to make the thumbhole work! I really do love the design of the opening (much prefer it to the crossover design of a different base layer I have) and the placement is super comfortable to nurse my toddler. So I may try to stretch out or size up!

The Luna layer is my new favourite shirt. It is so easy to wear for nursing and it is super warm. I bought it in other colours so I can wear it everyday. I’m 136lbs /5’1 and normally a small. The small fits really well - not skin tight but not baggy. Cant wait to wear these camping 🥰

Buyer BEWARE. I was charged $83 for shipping fees after the fact on top of the $13 I already paid. That’s almost more than the cost of the shirt. If you go looking on the website it does say US buyers are responsible for tariffs but I assumed that was included in the shipping cost not that I would be sent a bill from FedEx afterwards!! and nowhere did it say that it could amount to that much, anywhere in my buying process. This is absolute insanity, and when I informed them they were dismissive and just said thanks for the feedback, best wishes. horrible horrible customer service, this is so unacceptable. Awful way to run a business, very dishonest.

The Luna Layer

Store owner replied: Hi Emily, We’re truly sorry for the frustration and surprise caused by these import charges. As a small Canadian husband-and-wife business, we completely understand how upsetting it would feel to receive an unexpected invoice after delivery. To clarify, these are not additional shipping fees charged by Wildelore, but government-imposed import duties/tariffs and brokerage fees collected by the shipping carrier (in this case FedEx) on U.S. orders. Unfortunately, these charges can vary significantly depending on the order value, product category, state, and carrier processing fees, which makes them very difficult for small businesses like ours to accurately predict or estimate in advance. Because of the rapidly changing cross-border tariff situation, this has become an evolving challenge for many Canadian businesses shipping to the U.S. We do currently note throughout our website and checkout process that U.S. customers are responsible for applicable duties and tariffs, though we understand from your experience that we need to make this communication even clearer moving forward. We never want any customer to feel misled, and we genuinely appreciate the feedback as we continue adapting to these changes as a small family-run company. — Carissa, Founder of Wildelore

The most functional piece of clothing I own! I wear this year round — through all the cold months and all summer during camping season. It’s perfect for all the night time nursing sessions in the camper. Such a bonus not needing to wash it as frequently as other pieces of clothing too. Love, love, love it!

Customer photo review of The Luna Layer

The sleeve length and thumb hole placement is absurdly short. Additionally, the shirt smells bad (kind of like “wet dog”) when wet. This means that after it is washed or if there is a lot of sweat, it smells bad. For the price, I would expect better

The Luna Layer

Store owner replied: Hi Anna, Thank you for sharing this — I’m really sorry to hear this was your experience. That’s not what we want for you at all. I took a closer look at your order and saw you purchased both the Teal and Huckleberry, and I’d love to better understand what you’re noticing with the sleeve length. In terms of the scent you mentioned, merino wool is a natural fiber and can sometimes carry a slight earthy smell when fully wet, but it shouldn’t feel strong or unpleasant. If that’s happening, we’d really like to look into it with you. I’m going to reach out to you personally as well so we can take a closer look and make this right. Warmly, Carissa

Customer photo review of The Luna Layer

Bought the Luna layer for my sister. She is usually size small, so I decided to go for medium for the base layer. She said the fit is great and she loves it. It's been perfect for the Quebec's spring weather!

This is the perfect addition to my closet, I want to order one in every color! I can see myself wearing this well after breastfeeding because it’s such a quality baselayer for being outside in the fall/winter/spring.

Love mine! Perfect for skiing and snowshoeing with and without baby as a nursing momma. The shirt is also nice enough to wear out in general, not just as a base layer. I did choose to size up from the all phases fleece as mine is a bit tight in the shoulders.

This is all I wear now. I got grey and black and live in them. They’re beautiful and functional and perfect.

Loved it during pregnancy and now I love wearing it postpartum. Baby is two weeks old today and we’re starting to get out on some little hikes. This layer keeps me warm and makes breastfeeding so convenient!

I really can’t say enough great things about this top. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth the investment? 1000000% YES. I Absolutely love the Luna layer!!! At 4 months postpartum, I’m a US Size 20, I ordered the 3XL (in every color) and it gives me the fitted look that I love without being skin tight! This leaves me hopeful that I’ll be able to wear this top through my next pregnancy 🤞🏻. Being 5’-4” I find that the sleeves are a good length! Not too short, not too long! The thumb holes are perfectly placed! The torso length is also perfect! I love the lift to nursing panel and that the fabric lays nice and flat so you don’t see the creases across your chest like on other nursing tops! My only wish is that this top came in 7 colors so that I could wear it every day or the week!

The Luna Layer

Very warm (even on its own!) and perfect for layering. It works very well over my growing baby bump!

The Luna Layer

I LOVE my Luna Layer. The colour, the details, the fit, the feel of the fabric it’s all perfection! Only regret is that I should have bought it sooner!!

The Luna Layer

I own two of these beautiful shirts and they have perfect! I was pregnant during fall/winter and the mid-weight wool has been very durable for daily wear and cross-country skiing. It fit right up to the end of pregnancy! Now I’m nursing and these layers are so convenient and still fitting and looking great! And smelling great too despite the sweaty nursing hormones and baby spit-up! Highly recommend!

The Luna Layer

Love the Luna layer! SO cozy and looks great - I will certainly keep wearing it long past breastfeeding. If you size up, it makes a really cozy spot for baby to cuddle or to wear over a soft carrier like wrap or ring sling. Definitely have used it a few times to calm baby down when he needs an extra cozy snuggle.

The Luna Layer

I was very excited to obtain a wool nursing top as the majority of my regular long sleeve shirts are merino. The quality of this piece is excellent and I really love the style of the nursing access. However, the sleeves are simultaneously too short and too wide on me which is very annoying when wearing something over the top of this.

The Luna Layer

Store owner replied: Thank you so much for your thoughtful and honest feedback, we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re so glad to hear you love the quality and nursing access design, but we’re really sorry to hear the sleeve fit didn’t meet your expectations. Fit and functionality are incredibly important to us, so it’s disappointing to hear this was frustrating for you. Please know that we value you as a customer and want to make this right. We’ll be reaching out to you via email shortly to learn more and find a solution together!

It's really lovely, and the M is perfectly sized in the body, but the sleeves are sadly a good 5cm too short for me :(

The Luna Layer

Store owner replied: Hi Wiesje, thank you so much for your feedback and for the kind words! We’re so glad to hear the body fit of the medium worked well for you. We’re really sorry to hear the sleeves felt too short though, that’s definitely not the experience we want for you. We truly appreciate you sharing this feedback, as fit is incredibly important to us and helps inform future improvements. We’ll be reaching out via email shortly to learn a bit more and see how we can make this right for you.

Love the quality, design, color, and natural fiber. I sort of wish I sized up, but it works well. The tariff though was expensive and I probably wouldn’t have bought it if I had known. 13$ for shipping to the company and then 93$ for tariffs and “delivery charges”. Just FYI for all you US customers.

The Luna Layer

Store owner replied: Hi Roseann, Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. I am so glad to hear you are loving the quality, design, colour, and natural fiber. I am very sorry to hear about the unexpected costs related to tariffs and delivery. We completely understand how frustrating that can feel. As a small Canadian business, these fees are determined by U.S. customs and shipping carriers, and unfortunately they are outside of our control. We are always working to be as clear as possible so there are no surprises. Thank you again for your support and for taking the time to share your experience. It truly helps us continue to improve.

I am really enjoying my Luna layer! It has been great for breastfeeding in outdoor spaces, as we've been adventuring further afield with our 6-month-old. The top warm and cozy and the opening for breastfeeding opens easily, but lays flat when not in use, making for a flattering breastfeeding layer. I'm a little surprised by how quickly it's pilled, as I've only washed it once, in a laundry bag on a cold, gentle cycle. However, the merino wool is otherwise really great quality, as it does not cause itching and doesn't feel as likely to tear as some of my other, thinner merino items. I am 5'11'' and ~170 lbs with an athletic build, and the large fits me perfectly (including long enough sleeves).

The Luna Layer

Store owner replied: Hi Esther, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We are so glad to hear you are enjoying your Luna Layer for your outdoor adventures and that it has been a great piece for breastfeeding! We are sorry to hear about the pilling you noticed early on. With merino wool, some initial pilling can happen. This is a natural characteristic of the fibre, especially in areas with friction, as shorter fibres come to the surface. The good news is that this usually settles over time, and any pills can be gently removed with a fabric comb or sweater shaver without damaging the garment. We truly appreciate your feedback. It helps us continue to improve, and we are so glad to hear the fabric has been soft, durable, and comfortable for you. If you ever need anything, we are always here to help.

Perfect fit, amazing material - wear mine as much as possible

The Luna Layer

Comfortable and versatile

The Luna Layer

The Luna Layer is very well made- excellent quality and attention to detail and natural materials which is why I bought it. The only thing that I would have changed is sizing up. The sleeves are a bit short for me (thumb holes are below my wrist) and the shoulders are slightly snugger than I like. But I won’t exchange it because it isn’t worth the money for such little issues. I’m 5’7” and 160lbs for reference with a size M.

The Luna Layer

Purchased for a friend who already had the fleece. She was happy to have both and likes the merino!

The Luna Layer

Love the Luna layer. Exactly what I was missing in my muma adventure wardrobe. Definitely makes my winter activities to hike and snowboard/ hang at the ski hill much simpler and warmer now that I have a merino that I don’t have to lift up to show up my still shrinking mid section and keep it warm. I’m 5’4” and ordered a small. It definitely is roomy in my midsection ( what I prefer at the moment) without being too baggy) but if I return to my pre-pregnancy self I’d prefer an xs size to be more base layer fit.

The Luna Layer

Love the Luna Layer! The shape definitely allows for space in the belly area. I’m excited to try the breast feeding feature when baby is here. Fits really well right now at 6+ months pregnant, I usually fit size small and ordered the size small, I think it will be a slightly loose fit in the belly after pregnancy. The fabric is very soft.

The Luna Layer

So soft and practical, down side is that it fuzzes.

The Luna Layer

It felt a bit small at first, but after wearing it for a day it relaxed and it fits perfectly now. It's not quite as soft as I expected (it feels a little bit like scratchy wool, although not to the point of being uncomfortable), but it's exceptionally warm and breathable. The nursing access is perfect!

The Luna Layer

I find the fabric a little thicker than previous marino wool tops I've had - it's lovely for extra warmth and feels more durable too! I've been wearing my top daily and finding the fit is still very good as I enter the third trimester.
